What is Mediation?
Mediation is a process where a neutral third party assists you in reaching a voluntary, negotiated agreement.
Why Mediation?
Mediating a dispute is not about the law. Trials and motions are about the law. Mediating is about identifying the issues in dispute, fact finding and dissemination, generating potential solutions, quantifying risks and outcomes, identifying your interests (as opposed to positions and posturing) and then finding the solution(s) that you and the other party can agree to.
In Family Law, when a court makes decisions in your divorce, separation, or parenting case, there is very little time for the judge to get to know you and your family before making decisions that are far-reaching.
Make court your last resort. It’s your life. In the mediation process, the mediator is not making any decisions. You are. We have resources available such as attorneys and therapists that can help you make the best decision possible for your family.
At Family Conflict Resolution Center, we work with you through mediation or parenting coordination to help you generate options for an agreement that works for your family - especially the children. We are their advocates.
